John Forbes, President

John Forbes is the President of the Smart Desktop Division of Pi Corporation. Mr. Forbes is an entrepreneur and technology executive with over 20 years of experience in creating and marketing category-leading desktop software for information workers. He has held key executive positions at some of the most successful software companies in the industry, including Autodesk, Visio/Microsoft and Mforma.

Dr. Jon Herlocker, Vice President Engineering and CTO

Dr. Jon Herlocker is VP of Engineering and CTO of Smart Desktop. Dr. Herlocker specializes in the area of Human-Computer Interaction, with an emphasis on activity-based research for improving the productivity of information workers. Dr. Herlocker has previously worked at Sun Microsystems Laboratories. He is also a founder of MusicStrands and one of the inventors of the patented recommendation technology commercialized by Net Perceptions.

Dr. Tom Dietterich, Chief Scientist

Dr. Thomas Dietterich is Chief Scientist of Smart Desktop, and a professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University. He is a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery and the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. He is currently President of the International Machine Learning Society. Dr. Dietterich is the author of the book Readings in Machine Learning, and was Executive Editor of the journal Machine Learning.
